Recap: NEWSTON at BMW in Munich
A Day at BMW Welt – Covering Surface Inspection, Inline Excellence, and a Rare Glimpse into BMW Production.
On April 20, 2026, we gathered at BMW Welt in Munich, in a specially reserved conference room located right next to the BMW plant. Invited guests included users, interested parties, and industry experts. Expectations ranged from an initial overview of the ABIS III and NEWSTON's AICell surface to detailed, practical questions.
The event kicked off with a presentation of NEWSTON, after which we dove straight into the topic: The focus was on the use of ABIS III in the press shop and the hardware advancements compared to ABIS II. Already during the first Q&A sessions, it became clear what made this day special: No standard questions, but genuine user questions from everyday production.
The focus then shifted to software and the bodyshop. By this point, it had become clear that the AICell surface is more than just a single sensor. It is the interplay of sensor technology, robotics, software, and application logic—and it is precisely this interplay that makes the difference.
A lot of time was deliberately set aside for networking, because the most valuable conversations usually happen between presentations: At the standing table or over coffee.
The event concluded with a factory tour, made possible by our host, BMW. Divided into two groups, we walked past the BMW plant that many recognize from presentations but rarely see up close.
We would like to thank everyone who attended, the speakers for the open discussions, and BMW for their generous hospitality.
